By the Editor | February 22, 2011
To keep you skin healthy and young you need to regularly moisturize your skin, tone your skin, cleanse your skin and exfoliate it. While moisturization helps in keeping the moisture to your skin, toning helps in keeping the pores of the skin clean, thus maintaining the health of the skin, exfoliation helps in the removal of the dead cells from the skin, thus giving the skin a brand new look. Exfoliation treats the blemished skin, dark marks, clogged pores, hyper pigmentation and dry skin.
A few home made exfoliators that give a new lease of life to your skin
A natural and home made exfoliator is the ones that work best and without any side effects in comparison to the chemically prepared exfoliating products. Exfoliator is better avoided by the people who have acne prone skin as it may increase the condition. Here are a few home made exfoliators that can give your skin that copious freshness.
- One of the best home made exfoliators is the mask that contains oatmeal and milk. Grind the oatmeal to a fine dust, mix it with milk and rub it gently on the skin and wash after a few minutes.
- Mix two table spoons of gram flour with lime juice and two pinches of salt. Make a thick paste and apply on the skin. Keep it for ten to fifteen minutes before washing it off. This works best for the oily skin.
- Another natural facial exfoliator that can make a great home made exfoliator is the coarse almond powder. Mix the coarsely ground almonds and make a thick paste with milk and apply on the skin. This not only removes the dead cells but in the course of time lightens the skin and also brings smoothness to the skin.
- To get rid of the dry skin on face, the best home exfoliator is the mixture of cucumber juice with avocado. Remove the seed and skin of the avocado and flatten it using the bottom of a spoon till it becomes smooth. Peel the skin of the cucumber and grate it into small pieces and mix both the cucumber and avocado with a teaspoon of honey and olive oil. Apply it on the areas where you have dry skin and wash off with warm water after fifteen minutes. This is one of the best dry skin remedies.
- A mixture of sugar and lemon is another effective exfoliator. Mix a two or three pinches of sugar in a concentrated solution of lemon and apply on the skin and gently rub it in circular motions and rinse it off the face after few minutes. You can also add honey for moisturizing and nourishing the skin.
- You can also apply a mixture of brown sugar with olive oil on the skin and rub moderately and wash off with cool water and pat dry. You can also use this mixture on the arms, legs, feet and torso. This removes the dead cells from the feet and helps in treating cracked skin.
